Xiaomi and Mercedes-AMG Petronas present limited Formula 1 e-scooters

So far, e-scooters have not really impressed with their design. But now the
Chinese electronics manufacturer Xiaomi and the Formula 1 team Mercedes-AMG Petronas are presenting a model that will not only please Lewis Hamilton.

With the Mi Electric Scooter Pro2 e-scooter in the colors of Mercedes-AMG Petronas, Xiaomi and Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 team are launching a very limited special edition. The combination of a bestseller with the design elements of a global leader in the automotive industry is intended to enable the slogan “Ride with the best” also on the last mile. When folded, the e-scooter fits in every trunk or under every seat on the train.

Xiaomi x Mercedes-AMG Petronas: e-scooter with luxurious branding

The limited special edition of the e-scooter has turquoise accents and the Mercedes-AMG logo adorns the trim on the rear wheel. “THE BEST OR NOTHING” is written in capitals on the handlebars. But the e-scooter not only has something to offer visually. There is a 300 watt electric motor in the front wheel that can cope with inclines of up to 20 percent and promises a range of up to 45 kilometers. In sport mode, it accelerates the two-wheeler quickly up to 25 km / h and as soon as the driver takes his finger off the control lever, the e-scooter recovers energy. The intensity of the Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS)can be set via the app. Because recuperation replaces braking in many situations, the brake light lights up and starts to flash – just like a real Formula 1 car.

Away from the racetrack, world champion Lewis Hamilton is committed not only to plant-based nutrition , but also to electric mobility for reasons of environmental protection . With this e-scooter, his Formula 1 fans can now easily switch to an electric drive.

Practical test: This is how the limited Formula 1 e-scooter drives

We have already tested the e-scooter and were surprised by the acceleration . Pebbles, puddles and slippery surfaces should be avoided because the driven front tire can slip unexpectedly. To start, you give the scooter a push, stand with both feet on the step and push the turquoise-colored drive lever down. The e-scooter immediately accelerates to 25 km / h .
An LCD display that shows the speed is attached to the handlebar. Press the power button once and the light comes on. Twice in a row and you change the driving mode. There are three driving modes in total : walking speed, normal and sport . Because the brakes apply directly, the driver should always keep both hands on the handlebars, especially in the current road conditions. In the Xiaomi app you can adjust settings and driving characteristics via Bluetooth. For example the strength of the energy recovery, the cruise control or a permanently illuminated rear light. You can also use the app to lock the scooter and view the battery level. Also Read:

Price and availability of the new Mi Electric Scooter Pro2

The price for the special edition has not yet been published . The only thing that is clear is that the e-scooter will also be available in Germany and the number of units is very limited. You can buy the standard version of the Mi Electric Scooter Pro2 here on Amazon for currently 421.90 euros. Xiaomi’s recommended retail price is 549 euros. We therefore assume that the special edition of the e-scooter will certainly not be cheaper.
